Who are the daytime classes for?

The classes are for anyone who wants tips and techniques to improve their cooking (how to chop vegetables, how to make sauces, how to combine flavours, how to season food properly).  They also help more experienced cooks who are looking for some inspiration and to start cooking something more than ‘the same old’ dishes.

How many to a class?

The daytime classes are for 6 people, working in pairs.  This gives the space and the time to ask any questions and get help with tricks and techniques as we go and a partner to work with (half the work, twice the laughing!).

What dishes will we prepare?

Typically, you will make one more involved dish and one simpler dish – both great for midweek eating (and easy to tweak if you want to zing them up for a weekend supper with friends).  To offer you a chance to sit down and have a cuppa in the middle, I demonstrate an easy bake for you to try at home, which we sample at the end.

Do I need to be great in the kitchen to enjoy these classes?

Not at all.  The dishes are selected to be easy to recreate at home and I am there to provide support to anyone wanted to learn new techniques, ask questions or just have a bit of a hand along the way.

How hard will I have to work?!

The daytime classes are hands on, but not flat out!  We start with a chat about the theme for that class (for example the benefits of plant-based eating or tips and tricks for filling your freezer).  We also go through any new or unusual ingredients that I have found that I want to introduce you to. You then put on an apron and get stuck in and try cooking the recipes with the help of your partner.  You will be sizzling and chopping, but also have time to chat, grab a cuppa and sit in the middle of the class to watch a baking idea being demonstrated to you.

What do I need to bring?

Just an apron and some food storage boxes to take your goodies home.  The class comes with all ingredients and equipment included, plus a personal copy of the recipes you have made.

Tell me about the venue

The venue we use for daytime classes is in a very well-appointed church hall in central Sevenoaks.  It has excellent facilities and off-street parking. The kitchen itself has stainless steel work surfaces and dedicated food prep and hand washing sinks together with two ovens & a large hob and a speed dishwasher.  This all means that it is ready to accommodate any cooking (and mess!) that we make. We also use the adjoining glass-sided lobby as a place to prep foods and have a chat at the start of the class.

The numbers

Daytime classes are £45 per person for 2.5 hours and can are on a Tuesday morning, see the adjoining calendar for this term’s class dates.

The classes for this term are sold out, however, we do run a waiting list as things can change at the last minute. Please do get in touch if you want to be added.

Daytime classes this term are £45 to include all of your high quality ingredients, support and help whilst you make your dishes, recipes to take home, top tips for where to buy the best ingredients and as many laughs as you can manage in two and a half hours..  Oh – and of course – your dinner!
